When my son Charlie was born, he was gifted a little light blue teddy bear. He named him simply “Blue Bear”, and from that moment, the two were inseparable.

Wherever Charlie went, Blue Bear was never far behind. When Charlie became unwell, his beloved bear was always by his side, offering comfort through hospital stays, treatments and some of the most difficult moments imaginable.

When we lost Charlie to a brain tumour at just five years old, our world changed forever. But the love, courage and happiness he brought into our lives never left us.

I wanted to create something that would keep both Charlie’s memory and his beloved Blue Bear alive. That is how our Light Blue Bear was born — a beautifully soft, traditional 20cm teddy bear, inspired by Charlie’s very own companion.

More than just a teddy bear, he represents love, comfort, hope and a little boy whose legacy continues to touch lives.

A Little Bear Making a Big Difference

Following Charlie’s death, my husband and I founded Thumbs Up for Charlie, a children’s charity dedicated to supporting families affected by paediatric brain tumours.

Today, we’re incredibly proud that Blue Bear & Co. and Thumbs Up for Charlie have joined together in a special charitable partnership.

10% of the £40 sale price of every Light Blue Bear goes to Thumbs Up for Charlie.

These funds help us provide respite breaks, create precious family memories and offer comfort to families facing some of life’s most unimaginable challenges.

We also gift our Light Blue Bears to families attending our charity respite breaks, sharing a little piece of Charlie’s love and comfort with other children.

Every bear proudly wears the Thumbs Up for Charlie logo, a symbol of the little boy who inspired it all.
